To help celebrate the centenary of Bentley Motors this year, the truly iconic brand are launching a special limited edition of 100 cars linked to the historic red single-seat Brooklands racer built for Bentley Boy Sir Henry ‘Tim’ Birkin in 1929.
Specialist provenance brand TMB Art Metal were privileged to craft small icons in the shape of the Birkin car’s knock-off wheel spinner, of actual metal – an engine piston – from the historic car, these icons being built into an instrument on the edition’s dashboard. Christopher Bennett of TMB personally collected the old piston from George Daniels, the world-renowned horologist and then owner of the ex-Birkin car, from his house in Hay-on-Wye. This was in 2006, the piston being removed circa 2000, when the car had an engine rebuild commissioned by George.
